Aim of the project
The most efficacious treatment based on the best evidence may not be the most cost-effective option. The health technology evaluation is needed to the submission of a new drug or treatment options of the reimbursement system or to the change of the reimbursement categories.
- Analysis of diseases, treatment options and patient populations in different context with high level methodologies.
- Making comparison analysis regarding different treatment options and drugs
- Measuring efficiency (drugs or treatment options)
- Cost-evaluation (costs of different treatment options, burden of disease, additional costs to financier, patients or society)
- Calculation of the cost-effectiveness regarding the given efficacious treatment
Methodology
The following methodologies and statistics are applied in our studies:
Determining data in case of examined context
Disease epidemiology, incidence, prevalence, surveillance, mortality, morbidity, treatment options, etc.
- Searching data in the relevant national databases (e.g. internet based Health Data-warehouses, the aggregated prescription and intervention data of applicable National Healthcare Funds and organizations, or the population data of the National Statistical Offices) and international databases (OECD, WHO)
- Projecting data from the available patient related databases (number of patients treated by GPs)
- Systematic reviews
Data analysis
- Cost-effectiveness analysis
- Cost-utility analysis
- Cost-minimization analysis
- Cost-benefit analysis
- Model development or adoption to calculate cost-effectiveness (Markov-model, decision tree model)
- Sensitivity analysis, Monte-Carlo simulations
Results
- Written studies about different diseases, treatment options and patients populations in the following context:
- Calculating efficiency measurements with different high level methodology
- Calculating costs (treatment, social, etc.)
DOs and DON’Ts
Do
- Provide access to technical data and publications
- Regular consultations with medical experts
- Focus only on the goal of the study
|
|
Don’t
- Ignore the presentation of marketing and sales objectives for the sake of the assessment of objective goals
|
